Our Under 12 girls brought home more honors this season, by successfully defending the Derry Croagh Patrick West Mayo Shield against Castlebar.
On Sunday 4th October both Westport and Castlebar Mitchels took to the pitch to play off the last match of the season, the U12 West Mayo Final.
It was very windy and a correct decision was taken to play the match on the Mitchel’s astro pitch to avoid any toppling goalposts!
Both teams had tough conditions and unfamiliar surface to contend with. However they were familiar with each other, having played earlier in the championship.
It was a tough match with both teams playing to their best, showcasing skills and teamwork all over the pitch.
In the end Westport’s determination and work ethic showed through to be ahead at the final whistle.
It has been a great year for Westport Camogie and the girls of the Under 12 panel 2020.
