With the vaccine rollout continuing across the country and with the spring evenings starting to lengthen attentions are now beginning to turn to when GAA club activities will be allowed to recommence. Westport GAA this week were one of the first off the mark as they announced the opening of their club membership for 2021.
The Westport GAA Senior Club, Westport Bord na nÓg and Westport Camogie Club are now taking online memberships for the coming season and all players are asked to register by April 16th. This year marks the first time that Westport Camogie club will come under the ‘One Club’ umbrella of Westport GAA.
Despite the substantial challenges of continuing to cover costs as well as the lack of opportunities for fundraising, Westport GAA made the decision to leave membership rates unchanged for 2021, something that club treasurer David Fallon feels was important this year,
“Many people have had a difficult year with Covid and the club is committed to remaining as affordable and welcoming as possible for individuals and families. Our facilities, coaching and games are of a very high standard and we feel our membership rates represent excellent value for money” he said.
Underage rates for football, hurling and camogie remain the same as 2020 with €70 for the first child, €50 for the second and €40 for third and subsequent children. A special rate of €40 for the Under 6 Nursery programme is also offered – Please note that this applies for boys football only.
Westport GAA are keen to get the whole family involved and they are one of the few clubs in the county to offer Family Membership. The attractive Family Membership package is available at a special offer of €250 and includes full membership for 2 adults and up to 4 children, a Portwest beanie hat, gloves & bandana for adults (worth €50 each) and a FREE Mayo GAA Club Development draw ticket (worth €100). Ticket holders for the Mayo GAA Club Development draw will be in with a chance of winning cash prizes of up to €10,000.
At adult level the club are offering a very attractive €160 ‘Club Westport’ Single Membership package which consists of full membership, a Mayo GAA Club Development Draw ticket (worth €100), a Portwest beanie hat, gloves & bandana (worth €50), free entry to all home club league games plus inclusion in an exclusive draw to purchase an All-Ireland Football Final ticket should Mayo be involved, all for just €160.
There are also the standard adult/player membership packages including €100 ordinary single membership and €80 full time student rate (rebate to be requested from club treasurer).
With Covid restrictions still in place the club has made the decision to process all memberships online this year.
